What is .44 webley?

.44 Webley is a centerfire revolver cartridge with a bullet diameter of .429 inches. It was developed in the late 19th century by Webley & Scott, a British firearms manufacturer, for use in their double-action revolvers. The cartridge was popular in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries, as well as in the United States. It was used extensively by British and Commonwealth forces during World War I and World War II. The .44 Webley was later replaced by the .38/200 and .38 Special cartridges, which were lighter and easier to handle. Today, the .44 Webley is mostly used for recreational shooting and as a collector’s item.
